Radio Clash 47: From London to Japan via New Orleans edition

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Eventually this show made it!!! After so many technical issues, it DOES feels like I have been to to Japan via New Orleans and back to London…

In this show; remembering New Orleans and asking for donations/votes, review of new Studio Ghibli movie, Howl’s Moving Castle; Japanese J-Pop and US pop songs covered in Japanese by a German new wave princess and another personal track d’memoire (I don’t know french, does it show?).

Downtime

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Figuratively as well as literally recently; some noticed that MutantPop.net and Radio Clash just went *pop* since last Thursday and just upped and disappeared – well it was due to a RAID Hardware error at my host, Valuehosts…I’ve had to reupload this and the MutantPop forum and have quite a bit to go still.

I think after being hacked recently that a new host might be in order…:-(

Let me know if anything breaks (err, anything *new* breaks) and I’ve recorded a new show and should be up later in the week, just need to edit it.

Thanks all that emailed or contacted me concerned to where Radio Clash had gone – as someone once said, ‘It’s good to be back’.

Actually just remembered that was Gary Glitter…eek!

Parcelforce? More like Parcelfarce…

Tuesday, September 20th, 2005

I try and make sure when I receive bad service from a company, that I communicate it as an incentive for those companies to get better (cf. bloggers talking about Kryptonite locks) but in this case, you may not have a choice.

I won a bid on eBay and the guy after much groaning about Paypal charges (my heart bleeds…you set the price, if someone wins at that price you don’t keep moaning about it to them!) and prevaricating eventually sent it via USPS. It arrived a week late via Parcelforce, obviously the UK end of the deal. After about 5 calls at my expense I’ve not got my parcel and been told conflicting things (it has a customs charge, which apparently now cannot be paid at the Post Office?) and had 3 delivery attempts, with the 3rd one them arriving late (I was there until 11am and it was a morning delivery) with them not ringing the bell as someone was in. And they can’t deliver to a Post Office near where I work without incurring a large charge and 3-5 days, when I won’t be here.

May the parcelforce not be with you, I say…eventually I might get this parcel, before Xmas maybe…the ironic thing is, I didn’t want this item, but won it anyway. Sigh.
