Radio Clash - I AM 2!

Radio Clash is 2 years old tonight!

I never thought when I created the first podcast (still up) with a tie clip mic sellotaped to a tripod stand (oh so nothing changed then! says the audience) that I’d still be going 2 months let alone 2 years later!

So thanks to you all for listening! I couldn’t have done it without you!
And the 2 year show is on it’s way, slightly delayed by a few weeks by winds and tides, but it’ll be sailing the high seas, boarding your iPod and splicing your mainbrace soon enough (that’s enough – metaphor ed)…

Radio Clash night #2 – Xmas Xscape Pod

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

The 2nd of the Radio Clash nights at the Arts Theatre Club will be on Wednesday December 13th and I hope you can join us from 9pm – late for the

Xmas Xscape Pod
(or Hectic Eclectic 2) with

  • Eric Kleptone of the Kleptones – fresh from rocking Bootie in San Francisco (and knocking heads with the Vice Chairman of EMI – boo! hiss!)
  • Jeb of £50 Note retuning especially from the US this time doing a longer live/DJ set!
  • and your veritable host!

As you might have guessed it’ll be an Xmas event with a difference – just loads of good mashup malarky and eclectic mix of music like you hear on them darned poddycasts, so you can Xscape the cheesy Xmas tunes (or maybe hear them evilly buggered!).

Or we might go for non-stop Wizzard on a ever-increasing high pitched Whitney loop, we’ve not decided… Whatever it’ll be fun! And we have a late license (being a private members club it can go on til 3am) so Xmess cheer can go on WAY past closing time…

As before it’s at the Arts Theatre Club, 50 Frith Street, Soho London, and it’s free but guestlist only, so contact or comment here with your full name if you’re thinking of coming (+1s or even +10s like last time are ok :P  )

To see pics of the previous mayhem of the first Radio Clash night, go here – loadsa cute bears btw…(hint hint)

Radio Clash 99: San Francisco Pt 2 – British Backroom Boys

Bastard USA photo 1

This part is where I concentrate on the backroom aka the upper lounge at Bootie where Bastard USA happened, and interview nearly all of the british contingent and play bits of their sets, and one of mine – a new in-progress DjNoNo track. I recorded the whole night and you can hear the complete sets here (courtesy of Dog – thanks!).

Part 3 will appear, whenever and will most likely include the A+D interview, some location recording and the rest of the Eric Kleptone interview where we talk about SF itself.

Photos are now up on my Flickr.

Fumble in the backroom here: (80mins, 50Mb) http://www.realityengine.co.uk/radioclash/show-archive/rc_99b.mp3

DJNoNo Ulysses @ Republik

This is DJNoNo Ulysses dancing down Club Republik tonight and having a great time…and what’s he wearing? Well yes Podwhoring happens in SL too, with my first thing I’ve made, the Radio Clash t-shirt (actual version will follow at some point, he’s a virtual model!)

I know some of you are on SL, so come and say hi, or even come and get a Radio Clash t-shirt (if I can work out how to copy it) – but where are the podcasters?

Podcast Island always seems empty – have they dropped it already? Cos the bootleggers are getting into it, there even was a virtual Bootie (thanks to Andy Asylum aka Churchill, who just DJ’d at a Pontiac do on SL before Jay-Z) so I was simulataneously playing to a room of SL avatars AND real people when I DJ’d the main room!

Behind the scenes at PodcastCon2006 – blog roundup!

Thursday, November 23rd, 2006

As I said in RC#99 I was interviewed by Gill Mills and Rob of TOTP at PodcastCon, along with Night Nurse Show and many people attending the event, and the results are up on Podshow’s site (or here’s the direct link to the 200Mb file). Watch to see Natasha fall over and the sign revenge between me and Scott of the Night Nurse Show…if they kept those bits in!

Thanks Rob and Gill! :-D

Also now up is some non-Flickr pix from Christian of Documentally including ones of me and Stefan from the Night Nurse Show – I spoke to Christian at the event and he seemed like a really nice guy, I was pestering him for pro photographer tips as he goes around the world as a photo journalist.

Oh and by far the best write-up of PodcastCon2006 (yes 2006, not this Marty McFly time travelling I did in my blogpost!) is this one over at Blog Relations. Although I don’t feel it was one body providing the us vs them (no not even Podshow whose low chilled profile was a masterstroke, and worked well) but there was that vibe of old media vs new media….

And I see that Mark Hunter and a few others I’ve heard commenting about the music panel questions still focusing on music we can’t (officially) play and that we should focus on the music we can play – I think when either the legal wrangles over ASCAP, RIAA and MCPS-PRS are sorted, and/or big viable alternatives to the mainstream route that bands and artists take starts luring serious talent away, then that conversation will change.

I mean The Shakes are great, and will be big, but 99.9% of the podsafe music I hear doesn’t make me want to throw away my CD collection just yet…
