Once upon a time, there was a little powercut in San Francisco…
Why should I care you say?
Well seeing that one powercut can wipe out Livejournal, Second Life, Craigslist, Technorati, Typepad…the list goes on, you wonder why in this apparent age of Web 2.0 these systems are still susceptible to one fatal flaw – location. (actually just read up on the Technorati site and their site did have co-location but the generators went down).
So I’m supposed to set up virtual business and entrust more of my data to these people, in this shiny new world of online applications and environments? You know Google, GMail, LJ, SL et al…
Not until they all have backups, and alternate servers in other parts of the world, I won’t.
Ok for those of you getting the jitters from not being able to get onto LJ/SL et al, watch this:
Yes I made it to 125! It’s a purely arbitrary number though, but here’s a special long edition with a Parkade set I did earlier in the year (26th Feb to be exact) in Second Life.
You can hear my Cruise Control sets every Wednesday 2-4 SL/PST (10-12am UK time) at the Parkade – I’m away for the next 2 Wednesdays , but I’ll be DJing on Thursday 2nd August 2-4/Sunday 5th August 12-2 SL, then back to my usual slot.
Groove to the tunes! Laugh at my mixing (I have got a lot better since this, which was the 5th Cruise Control set at the old Parkade I did so is a bit of a historic/hysterical document). There are more recent sets recorded, so expect more sets in future…
I’m off to Germany for a week hence the long show, hope you enjoy it, it’s happily free from my dulcet tones except shout outs from my alter-ego, DJNoNo Ulysses.
I’m off! Well this Wednesday 25th I am, off to Germany for a week – firstly to Kassel for Documenta then onto Berlin for the weekend/start of the weekend and back on the 1st August. Might get to Berlin early, depends how arted-out I am.
Any suggestions of where to go in those places?
I might podcast from Germany, I’ll take the gear and see how I feel…
There might be a new podcast before then, I dunno.
Yeehaw Motherf***ers! A dub inspired merry melange of metal, country, reggae, Harry Potter and satanic evil clients, proving things are not as different as they seemed…
Yes there isn’t enough \METAL!/ or Maiden remixed (something I thought after Wax Audio did his excellent Maiden Goes to Bollywood bootleg, also included here, that tune also inspired this mashup compilation) but Number of da Boots includes some very inspired moments, from Lobsterdust’s Marley skanking over metal and Wax Audio’s Frankie metal epic, and CMP’s devilish mix of Stones, Maiden, Soup Dragons and George Michael (?) It’s been put together by Celebrity Murder Party and it’s a large 122Mb .RAR download but well worth it.
Still not convinced? Here’s a taster of those 3 tracks I mentioned:
