Bah Humbug mix reposted

Thursday, December 7th, 2006

I’ve reposted my bah humbug long mix from last year on my Multiply: http://mutantpop.multiply.com/music (tracklist on the original post here: http://www.mutantpop.net/radioclash/archives/2005/12/19/bah-humbug/)

It’s my scrooge-tastic long mix of songs/cutups that remind me of Xmas cheer – yes the cheer I give when it’s over….So this is for those like me in a festering rather than festive mood, I dedicate this mix to you. I hope you survive the Xmess intact. And to the others, you give me a Christmas cracker at your own risk…

I will probably be giving out the odd CD to first 10-15 people at Hectic Eclectic 2 of the tracks used in this mix and a few more Very Happy

Radio Clash night #2 – Xmas Xscape Pod

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

The 2nd of the Radio Clash nights at the Arts Theatre Club will be on Wednesday December 13th and I hope you can join us from 9pm – late for the

Xmas Xscape Pod
(or Hectic Eclectic 2) with

  • Eric Kleptone of the Kleptones – fresh from rocking Bootie in San Francisco (and knocking heads with the Vice Chairman of EMI – boo! hiss!)
  • Jeb of £50 Note retuning especially from the US this time doing a longer live/DJ set!
  • and your veritable host!

As you might have guessed it’ll be an Xmas event with a difference – just loads of good mashup malarky and eclectic mix of music like you hear on them darned poddycasts, so you can Xscape the cheesy Xmas tunes (or maybe hear them evilly buggered!).

Or we might go for non-stop Wizzard on a ever-increasing high pitched Whitney loop, we’ve not decided… Whatever it’ll be fun! And we have a late license (being a private members club it can go on til 3am) so Xmess cheer can go on WAY past closing time…

As before it’s at the Arts Theatre Club, 50 Frith Street, Soho London, and it’s free but guestlist only, so contact or comment here with your full name if you’re thinking of coming (+1s or even +10s like last time are ok :P  )

To see pics of the previous mayhem of the first Radio Clash night, go here – loadsa cute bears btw…(hint hint)

Radio Clash 96: Rich’s Uncle with Scott and Jeb (2/3)

Scott's air guitar

Scott from Night Nurse Show and Jeb from 50 Pound Note and I combine forces in an unholy trinity of 3 podcasts – this is the 2nd of the 3, the other 3 are on 50 Pound Note and Night Nurse Show respectively! Collect the set, gotta collect em all, etc. etc!

In this one we talk about how RC1: Hectic Eclectic went, faded 80’s stars, bears, bears, bears, and play several of the tunes that went down well at the first Radio Clash night.

Oh and as you can see above, Scott did some air guitar to Aha…!

3 is the magic number (47mins, 35Mb): http://www.realityengine.co.uk/radioclash/show-archive/rc_96.mp3

Radio Clash : Hectic Eclectic party report

Jeb £50 Note singing
Jeb singing live at Hectic Eclectic

Wow that WAS a blast! Quite a few people came, a mix of bears and bootleg people (bearlegs? bootbears? err…) including Kirk, James (along with Kirk one of my oldest friends), Steve Holy13Nation, Scott from NightNurse, Ben Jamin, Holestar, Ian Fondue, Ben Goldrun, Robb Idiotech, loads of people :-D

I played a reasonable set, mostly mashups but also a lot of the original tunes I played in podcast #95, but Jeb’s was FANTASTIC and his live stuff (MORE COWBELL!) of his own tunes really surprised people and they loved it (going to try and work out as a result how I can get more live stuff on, it really works).

It’s been great to see Jeb and we’re recording podcasts together with Scott today so you’ll hear all about it I reckon!

Then Cartel Communique do what they do best – which is rocking the house til the early morn with a fanatic small crowd til 3am (!) I went on and finished the night, initially wrecking the dancefloor (oops) but played classics like ‘I want your Love’ and ‘Geno’ and got them boogying along, finishing on Metalium’s ‘Thank You For the Music’ and ELO’s ‘Mr Blue Sky’ (of course! A perfect way to end a night).

And and people liked the video projections, had Ulysses, Charlie Brown, Day of the Triffids and Children of the Stones for me, Breakfast Club and Hardware Wars for Jeb, and Hoff videos, Night of the Comet and High Fidelity for Cartel!
So thanks to all who came, the DJs and special thanks go to the now dubbed Rich’s Uncle who was an older geezer dancing flamboyantly and kissing people’s heads (classic! Cartel seem to inspire such beautiful madness) and Greg, Kirk and Trevor who helped on the door – especially Trevor as he was a member who happened to be there, became a convert and offered to do the door later on.

You’re a star!

I kept being asked ‘are you doing another one?’ so I suppose I have to :-D
