Here’s the audio(and video if you scroll down) of my International Mash Bash set (btw several inclusions of Lady Sov’s Love Me Or Hate Me means it is a bit sweary in places). The idea of the set was to combine audio and video – a new one for me – and in part represent Bastard and a theme runs through it commemorating 20 years since the Second Summer of Love (1989) – it seems piano house sound is coming back, so I wanted to mix old and new.
Also it includes Far Out – which was one of the first songs I DJ’d back in 1994 at Milk Laboratory (hence the Milk Lab mentions in the video which I also did) approriate as I said in my previous post, this is my last DJ set…at least for some time, might do VJing, might do online DJing, but probably the last one I’ll do in the flesh. Far too stressful, and far too many people ‘not getting it’ even when I try and make a floorfilling set like this one. Time to stop
EDIT: Safari users might want to download and play the MP3 below rather than click the player, looks like Soundcloud’s Flash has a problem with Safari going crashy crashy…

You can also download it here – or if you’re subscribed to this blog you’ve probably got it already
And drumroll – here’s the video. Yes I’ve combined the backing video for the Saarbruecken DJing with the set audio – most of it is synched, especially at the end. It is itself a mashup of films, found video, my own work, stop frame anim and animation. It includes video from:
Unfinished works from 2002 – you might recognise a few people in there
Wild Zero – another exceedingly odd Japanese movie
Medium res (you can share/embed by clicking on the icon in the right hand corner – feel free! – also for some strange reason you have to click play twice with this player – click the centre twice, or the two play buttons)
As part of my run up to DJing in Saarbruecken, Germany next weekend (I’m on at 1am Saturday – well it’ll be Sunday by then – 16th May, Room 1 at the 6nul3 club, just before Pilchard and the Who Boys! You can see the flyer here) I’ve been producing quite a few mashups and getting back into the swing of things, along with doing some mashups for the 72 project (Timbearland and Instamatic are me .
Here’s one I may not play in Saarbruecken – it doesn’t currently fit in my set, but if the response is good I might play it It’s a A vs B of the Ting Ting’s Great DJ (7th Heaven Mix) which sounded a bit empty to me so I make it more squelchy, harder, more uptempo and nu-breaksy by adding Shut Up And Dance’s ‘Make the Needle Jump’ from their last excellent album ‘The Great British Public’. I hope you enjoy, and maybe will see some of you in Saarbruecken? Certainly I have several new tracks, an audio-visual extravaganza and a cracking set.
And keep your eye on Radio Clash & Instamatic/DJNoNo blogs over the next week or two as I have new mashups, video, pictures and such stuffs to release.
Oh and to those few who might have heard this before, this is the Mastered version, LOL.
Happy New Year! No it’s not suddenly jumped forward to 2020 (after a year like that, I personally wouldn’t mind though) but a track by the The Herd. I featured them previously on the Radio Clash international hiphop show, they’ve got a great new video and like a few things reminds me of what’s going on with the shocking situation in Gaza – history repeats again and again, and people just don’t see to care, unless it affects them directly.
The latest installment of the excellent Xmas mashup series, Santastic 4 has just been released – and Track 12 is from the incorrigible DJNoNo on it “Scarey Xmas” where Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want from Christmas is You” gets the naughty boys and girls drum and bass treatment via Dillinja and Unknown Error, with some help from Nightmare before Christmas and that terrible slasher movie, Christmas Evil.
Other excellent tracks on there from an international bunch of good children who will be getting their stockings from Santa this year: Go Home Productions, Smash Up Derby, mojochronic, ATOM, FAROFF, dj BC, Cheekyboy, DJ Schmolli, Mr Fab and His Bag O’ Heads, Voicedude, Divide and Kreate, DJ Flack, Ace of Clubs and Solcofn.
