RC 188: iFad (The Schizophrenic Shade of Summer)

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

A long summer show reflecting the long uninterrupted periods of sunshine we’re getting in the UK, *cough* NOT.

So here’s another podcast for a schizophrenic summer that can’t make it’s mind up between sunshine, rain, and cloudy on an hourly basis. I also talk about hypnagogic pop, a term from the Wire (I know I know, but at least it’s not chillwave or shitgaze which ARE officially the worst genre names ever) about a certain type of woozy blissed out electronic/experimental guitar music (thanks eve!) – although listeners of Vini Reilly and Pat Metheny might debate the newness of this!

Oh and a cup filled with a liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea.

    It’s only an oversized etch-a-sketch y’know (138 mins, 109Mb)

    • El Guincho – Antillas
    • Simon And Garfunkel – A Hazy Shade Of Winter
    • Tennors – Weather Report

DJNoNo Skip to the End mix & Cuddle the Present, Scott & Jeb Podcasts

    Friday, June 4th, 2010

And more of this re-release mania – back in May 2008 I appeared on Pete Juxtaposeur’s Skip to the End podcast as DJNoNo and created a 30minute mix specially.

Here’s the 320kbps separate version for your separate listening pleasure (although I heartily recommend listening to Skip to the End show I was on for chat and great music from Pete).

Also another mix I’m quite proud of is the Cuddle the Present mix I did for Jeb 50 Pound Note‘s podcast – that’s now back up after being unavailable for a few years and available here.

Also back up is the show I did with Jeb and Lee from I Motor Away and the first of the 3 shows Scott, Jeb and myself did. – the second is available here. Also the Xmas show I did with Scott and Jeb on Scott’s 30th birthday.

Oh and still one of the best podcasts I ever did – the Hijack Happy Birthday podcast me and Jeb did for Lee’s I Motor Away podcast is now up (it seems I Motor Away has podfaded and is not up anymore so I uploaded it for good on my server)

Phew! Did I really do all that?

EDIT: and now courtesy of Scott the 3rd podcast myself, Jeb and Scott did the Night Nurse Show ‘Podwhores’ – joined by Stefan is now up on my server. It is very very rude though in true Night Nurse Show tradition, be warned ;-)

Gay Ass Rock Show – Scott from Night Nurse Show’s new podcast!

    Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Scott, who long-term Radio Clash listeners will remember co-hosting various RC shows including the excellent Ghey Metal Shows #1 and #2 and Suck Satan’s Cock shows is just produced the first proper Gay Ass Rock Show – his long awaited solo podcast since the sad demise of the much-missed Night Nurse Show. Woo!

There are also some good pilot episodes where he was demoing the setup which although not as polished are well worth listening to – so if you enjoyed the Ghey Metal Shows or The Night Nurse Show, or just like good metal and rock like I do, I’m sure you’ll enjoy these too :-D

This blog and these mashups would be illegal in the Digital Economy Bill…

    Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

Great video – and as it says, many of the mashups played on Radio Clash or ones you download from here and elsewhere, non-’podsafe’ podcasts you enjoy could and probably will be classed as illegal downloads – putting your connection at risk if the Digital Economy Bill is passed – doesn’t matter how transformative, how political (re: this video, rx2008 and Cassetteboy), or artistic and creative (Eclectic Method, Osymyso, Earworm, Girl Talk if you must) they are – still illegal downloads, and this bill makes no provision for them (as was originally mooted – all we got is a vague flabby concession on orphan works).

Not to mention the wonderful work Wikileaks is doing (as talked about on my personal blog, if you haven’t checked out Collateral Murder and the video of the killing of 2 journalists and several innocents in Iraq in 2007 while the kiddies on the trigger describe it as ‘nice’ ‘oh yeah look at those dead bastards’ like it was some kind of video game) which would be endangered by bills like this – for copyright law is always used to censor by corporates, government, religions and military.

So remember this debate when your MPs and their elves come-a-knockin’ on your door on the run up to the election. Where they there? Well this tool might tell you who ignored the 20,000 letters and couldn’t be bothered to turn up – apparently only a handful (numbers are debated especially by Labour’s Twitter Tsar – methinks the lady protest too much!) turned up last night. Was your MP there? I’d love to post a list, if it existed EDIT – someone has, of sorts: http://debillitated.heroku.com/

It’s an odd day when you find me agreeing with John Redwood (who bothered to be there and contributed as a voice of reason over the rushing of this bull bill) as well as usual suspects such as Tom Watson and Austin Mitchell (ditto, wish they were my MP!).

I mean even the inventor of the very thing you are reading this on is against it.

So whose side are you on?

A bumper show of 3 months worth of delayed music. Twas the storm’s fault, you see. A quiet storm…one you could hardly hear, but yet so loud.

A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease. (121Mb, 180 mins)
