Just found this rather funny and very drunken (and NSFW, scurrilous, loud, and extremely rude) interview at Podcastcon 2006 by Scott of the Night Nurse Show (now Gay Ass Rock Show) for Radio Clash (well more he saw my little iRiver recorder and insisted on doing an interview and wouldn’t take no for an answer!).

If you listen to his discussions in part one with Linda Mills (then of Podcast User) and Conrad Slater of Bitjobs for the Masses about masturbating to Radio Clash and spoken word podcasts, fannies and blowjobs…or in part two joined by Rob Dolby (Top of the Pods) with Scott talking about starfucking and probably libellious discussions including Podshow being the darkside…you might realise why I didn’t use it (also I was busy doing the San Francisco podcasts just after).

A drunken interview by Scott – Part One

A drunken interview by Scott – Part Two

It makes my and Scott’s interview with Twinkleboi seem well nice and clean and sober…goodness knows what the legendary all-podcaster Top of the Pods recorded that night sounds like then, that was so rude never made it out there

But as a stroll down memory lane, it’s very funny.

And more of this re-release mania – back in May 2008 I appeared on Pete Juxtaposeur’s Skip to the End podcast as DJNoNo and created a 30minute mix specially.

Here’s the 320kbps separate version for your separate listening pleasure (although I heartily recommend listening to Skip to the End show I was on for chat and great music from Pete).

Also another mix I’m quite proud of is the Cuddle the Present mix I did for Jeb 50 Pound Note‘s podcast – that’s now back up after being unavailable for a few years and available here.

Also back up is the show I did with Jeb and Lee from I Motor Away and the first of the 3 shows Scott, Jeb and myself did. – the second is available here. Also the Xmas show I did with Scott and Jeb on Scott’s 30th birthday.

Oh and still one of the best podcasts I ever did – the Hijack Happy Birthday podcast me and Jeb did for Lee’s I Motor Away podcast is now up (it seems I Motor Away has podfaded and is not up anymore so I uploaded it for good on my server)

Phew! Did I really do all that?

EDIT: and now courtesy of Scott the 3rd podcast myself, Jeb and Scott did the Night Nurse Show ‘Podwhores’ – joined by Stefan is now up on my server. It is very very rude though in true Night Nurse Show tradition, be warned

There are also some good pilot episodes where he was demoing the setup which although not as polished are well worth listening to – so if you enjoyed the Ghey Metal Shows or The Night Nurse Show, or just like good metal and rock like I do, I’m sure you’ll enjoy these too

Just to let you know I guested (guested? is that a verb? Is it like gussied?) on the Night Nurse Show #121 with Dat Gay American Scott, Stefan in da shizzle, Rowley from Dark Compass and me – well into any lineup a little rain must fall, but the other 3 made good conversation.

We bitched about Twitter, dodgy kebabs, fucking deaf blokes, Tsar Tsar Gabor, Stefan and Scot traded handbags (again), I got grilled about work by Scott handcuffed to the chair with the desk lamp on full blast, I was honorary Twinkleboi for a bit and talked about his Gargantuan Penis (there the similarity ends, sadly) and that Scott is the Evil Company Destroyer having killed every company he’s worked for, bar one. It was very funny and not the Darth Vader/Luke Skywalker showdown Scott was probably expecting, thinking wrongly Rowley was my mortal enemy…naw he’s lovely.

Sadly though this will be the last time I’m on the Night Nurse Show…as it’s ending in 4 shows. I’ll miss it

You want the thrills, the spills, the goss, the moss (?) not loads of boring words.

So here are my pictures of PodCamp with sporadic commentary!

Me and John went up on the Friday night to have a meal and get settled in for the early start the next day…wandered into the Fountain Inn and fairly quickly wandered out. So Saturday…

Arrive and who do I see almost immediately? Scott from the Night Nurse Show! Linda amd myself had worked on him, Linda with the offer of pop tarts and myself with my wondrous (err) upcoming DJ set and a tip about accommodation.

Dean was surprised to see me also:

I avoided the session full of Thatcher’s Children trying to mormontize or appletize their podcasts or whatever they call it. So first session for me I went into was the Social networking one about Twatter, sorry Twitter and deFaceBooks. There was a man with ‘Loudmouthman’ on his t-shirt.

“I wonder why” thought me, about 5 seconds later and for the next hour, I found out why. I think he was being the honorary Ewan (sorry Ewan .

I chatted more with Glyn of Open Rights Group and Dean Whitbread about copyright and music industry and how it related to podcasters, and thought ‘we should be having this in THERE’ so I hosted a session called ‘Music Rights and Podcasting’ which was very cool and very ad-hoc and probably was crap, but hey-ho I was entering into the unconference side of things.

I was actually secretly trying to start an anarchist Podcast Copyright Rebel Alliance like the TolPuddle Martyrs or proper ninja podcasters that actually know and carry out the first secret of Fight Club, or something.

Alas, the revolution was postponed for coffee and more gossiping, I mean networking…err…and free pens and tshirts. SWAG!

Oh no damn those sneaky capitalists…aargh…gimme! gimme! No!NO! Must resist!

Do you like the hi-tech way of updating the plasma screen? I was so disappointed the Wiki couldn’t update through osmosis via post-it notes.

Met Paul Knight, and he got on very well with Scott as you can see here . And he likes the metal and does great crazy videos as PJK Productions including the PodCamp promo which is very funny. Very recommended. Said he had a big gay following, well he does now, well 2

What you all want to know is about the piss up later, really? Well there was a band called Esteban (we like the MCOG reference):

There was drinking.

There was dancing.

And some DJing from me, which hopefully you’ll hear in a podcast soon as well as the Music Rights session if the libel laws get changed (ears burning already!). Sadly Rob from Top of the Pods and Claire had to go before my set, which was a shame. But I had fun playing some very silly tunes, and about 5 of mine.

Sunday was a bit bleary, got down there about 11ish and several sessions were in full swing. Glyn from Open Rights Group did a interesting session about what they do especially relating to podcasting, parody, mashups and some frightening info about e-voting in the UK. I did an interview for the podcast after his talk which will be on the next podcast.

My most favouritest session was the one at the end with Chris Vallance who works for 5 Live and also podcasts but also uses citizen media, Youtube and podcasters in his shows, and gets inspiration from podcasting shows and techniques. What was refreshing is a lot of established meeja people speaking at these things seem a bit condescending or trying to cash in on the novelty factor to me; Chris was the opposite, very open to learning from other people, amateur or professional. We talked about tips and techniques in interviewing and creating shows. I took an awful picture of him in response. C’est la vie.

I did find it interesting that a certain company wasn’t even mentioned in all but 1 of the sessions I was in, and it was I that mentioned them ? Not intentionally, I think they never came up as the likes of Twitter, Facebook and vloggy stuff seemed to be the love/hate buzzwords this year. Maybe their time has passed?

So it was time to go after that, well after a few hours wait in a chavvy pub with Scott and a horrible train journey with a screaming kid whose parents didn’t seem to give a shit, that is, and then home to London.

But otherwise a great PodCamp, my first and much more of a community effort than PodCastCon2006 I think (Stealth Disco excepted), I like the fluid nature more. It fits far better with the DIY nature of podcasting, if you don’t like a session then do one yourself – there’s the room, GO!

In fact I was thinking it was like the Second Life of Conferences, like SL there isn’t a rule or games, you either wander around thinking ‘what do I do now?’, hang out or go and create something yourself for others to share.

I wish it had been more dynamic and fluid, but it’s early days and people are getting used to the format. Like podcasting, people have been forcefed passive entertainment and learning and ‘discussion panels’ than do anything but, so it’ll take time to get people used to that loose format. I like the format though, and think there is a lot of scope and interesting times ahead – here’s to the next one (I hope)!

Just got back from PodCamp UK a few hours ago, travelling back on the train with Scott from the Night Nurse Show. I’ve met loads of people, chaired a session on Music Rights and Podcasting, did a great DJ set which at least made John laugh til it hurt and was great fun to do – loads of extremely silly bootlegs and my shizzle also.

Photos and stories to come (and possibly podcasts of the set and sessions, and one from me) but first I have to say a tired thank you to the organisers of Pod Camp UK! Here’s to the next one…and to end for now sharing with you a great little video by the insane (insanely cute or cutely insane, not the other criminal sort) Paul Knight of PJK Productions which myself and Scott appear in (according to Scott he also likes teh \METAL/!!! )

It also features Dean Whitbread talking ZX Spectrum samplers in biscuit tins and Linda Mills from Podcast User Magazine and excellent hugs fame wanting to fly, fly away.

Gladly I seem to have avoided all other media so far apart from one pic (phew). I have a nasty feeling though that blackmail-able video exists of me jumping around like a loon during my DJ set…*cringe*

I was in Trier and got a phone call from Scott from the Night Nurse Show during his Thursday show letting me know I was in last week’s Time Out – Natasha (also from the NN Show) spotted it!

Big thanks to Scott and Natasha for letting me know, he even typed it up:

This music podcast originates for our own dear London town and is put together by a man who wishes to be known only as Tim, to avoid, as he puts it, ‘copyright stormtrooper crashing through my windows’. Tim is a mash-up fan, so you get plenty of those, as well as interesting remakes, remixes and anything else that takes his fancy. It’s the ideal mix of old stuff you’d forgotten you liked, new stuff you want to hear more of, and weird stuff that just makes you think ‘humph-weird’. Tim is adamant that he doesn’t want his podcast – already over 100 downloads (???) old with no signs of flagging – turning into a job or making any money, which is endearing in this cynical world. If you’re looking for a summery bank holiday soundtrack, try no. 116 (called Born to Synthesise) which features everyone from London Elektricity to Ivor Cutler, Public Enemy to ELO.

Funnily enough my name is Tim, LOL. Thank you Time Out people! May I suggest excellent London-based The Night Nurse Show for a future review?
